📅 Managing Follow-Ups
Track topics that need additional teaching or review sessions.
What Are Follow-Ups?
Follow-ups are reminders for topics where Lucas needs extra help. When you mark an assignment with a follow-up action (other than "No follow-up needed"), it appears in the Needs Follow-Up tab.
This helps you:
- Track concepts that need reinforcement
- Plan future lessons based on identified gaps
- Ensure nothing falls through the cracks
The Needs Follow-Up Tab
Click the Needs Follow-Up tab to see all assignments marked for extra attention.

Information Shown
- Subject - Which subject the follow-up relates to
- Original assignment - What Lucas was working on
- Follow-up type - Brief review, re-teach, tutorial, etc.
- Scheduled date - When you planned to address it
- Topic notes - What specifically needs attention
Scheduling Follow-Ups
When grading, if you select a follow-up action, you can add details:
- Select the follow-up action (e.g., "Brief review in next lesson")
- Optionally set a target date
- Add topic notes (e.g., "Review carrying in addition")
- Click Give Final Grade
Be specific in your notes. "Math needs help" is less useful than "Struggles with borrowing in subtraction - use manipulatives".
Follow-Up Types Explained
| Type | Time | When to Use |
|---|---|---|
| Brief review | 5-10 min | Quick refresher at start of next related lesson |
| Additional practice | 15-20 min | More problems of the same type |
| Re-teach concept | Full lesson | Fundamental misunderstanding, start fresh |
| One-on-one tutorial | Dedicated session | Complex issue needing focused attention |
| Extension activity | Varies | Mastery achieved, ready for challenge |
Completing Follow-Ups
After you've addressed a follow-up:
- Go to the Needs Follow-Up tab
- Find the completed item
- Click "Mark Complete" or update the assignment status
- The item is removed from the follow-up list
Completed follow-ups are recorded in the assignment history for your reference.
Best Practices
- Review weekly - Check the Follow-Up tab at the start of each week
- Prioritize - Address re-teach items before brief reviews
- Group by subject - Handle all Math follow-ups in one session
- Document outcomes - Note what worked when you complete a follow-up
- Don't overload - Better to do fewer follow-ups well than rush through many
