Opening the Viewer

Manual Sheets sits in the header of the Today card on the D1 Shooter page, next to Edit Drills. It opens in the same tab and carries a Back to D1 Shooter button at the top, so there is no stray tab left behind.

These are the sheets that go in the sleeve and out to the court: one page per drill, with the badges, the diagram, the rep, the quality checks, and Micah's active cues. The page shows them as full letter pages at print size, so what is on screen is what comes out of the printer.

💡
The viewer takes a link straight to one sheet, one pair, or the whole binder. Adding ?pair=pair-2, ?sheet=drill-06-forward-hop, or ?binder=1 to the address opens on that choice, which is handy for a bookmark on the phone.

What Is There

Ten sheets, grouped the way the workout is grouped.

Group Sheets
Drills Lateral Hop Mikan, Hop Touch, Around the Horn, X Out Layups, Five Spot, Forward Hop, Twos and Twos
Vitamins Ball Raises, Kneeling Single Hand, Tennis Ball

Clicking any name shows that one sheet on its own, as a single page.

The picker offers three ways in: Full Binder at the top for the whole manual, the five front and back pairs below it, and the individual Drills and Vitamins lists at the bottom.

Front and Back Pairs

The sheets are laminated back to back in fixed pairs, so the top row of the picker offers those five pairs rather than making you remember which sheet backs which. Choosing a pair shows both sheets stacked, labelled Front and Back, in the order they go through the printer.

Front Back
Ball RaisesFive Spot
Kneeling Single HandForward Hop
Tennis BallTwos and Twos
Lateral Hop MikanX Out Layups
Hop TouchAround the Horn

A pair prints as a single two page job, so one trip through the print dialog produces one finished sheet ready to laminate. The old way, printing each side separately and hoping the second one went in the right way round, is gone.

Full Binder

Full Binder is the whole manual in one go, read the way it is worked: the three vitamins first, then the seven drills, each in its own order. It is the view to use for a fresh binder or a spare copy for the gym bag, rather than clicking through five pairs and printing five times.

Page Sheet

3Tennis Ball
4Blank
5Lateral Hop Mikan
6Hop Touch
7Around the Horn
8X Out Layups
9Five Spot
10Forward Hop
11Twos and Twos

The blank fourth page is deliberate. There are three vitamins, an odd number, so without it a two sided run would print a drill on the back of Tennis Ball and every sheet after that would land on the wrong side. The blank takes that spare side and the drills start clean on their own sheet of paper.

The eleven pages go through the print dialog as one job, so the two sided setting applies across the whole run rather than being chosen five separate times.

The binder is a reading and printing order, not a laminating order. Sheets laminated back to back still come from the five pairs above, which put the right two sides on one piece of paper.

Printing

Print opens the browser's own print dialog on whatever is currently shown. A single sheet is one page, a pair is two, the full binder is eleven. The line beside the Print button says which before you open the dialog. Nothing in the white control panel prints, only the sheets.

Four settings have to be chosen by hand every time, because a web page is not allowed to set them for you. They are listed on screen next to the Print button so there is nothing to remember:

Setting Why
Two sided Puts the pair, or each pair of binder pages, on one piece of paper, front and back
Flip on long edge Keeps the back the right way up. Flip on short edge prints it upside down.
Portrait The sheets are built for portrait letter
Color The amber cue box, the black badges, and the red warnings all carry meaning
💡
Turn on background graphics as well. Without it the black badge blocks and the amber cue panel print as flat white. The text is still there, but the sheet loses the colour coding it relies on.

The page size and margins are already set, so there is no need to touch scale or margins. Leave them at their defaults.

Changing a Sheet

Sheets are written in the Basketball working folder at 06_Drill_Library\Manual\Sheets, which is outside the site. The site reads a separate committed copy at dashboards/manual-sheets, and only that copy.

That means an edit in the working folder does not reach the dashboard on its own, and it also means a half finished experiment there can never appear on the live site by accident. To publish a change:

  1. Edit the sheet in the working folder and check it by opening the file directly
  2. Copy it into dashboards/manual-sheets
  3. Commit and deploy

Adding a brand new sheet takes one more step: add a row for it in dashboards/manual-sheets/sheets.json, giving it an id, its file name, the name to show, whether it is a drill or a vitamin, and its position within that group. The Full Binder is built from those two fields, so a new sheet takes its place in the binder on its own, and the blank spacer appears or disappears to keep the drills starting on a fresh side. Pairings live in the same file. A sheet named in that file but never committed is left out of the list rather than showing as a broken page, and the server logs which file it was looking for.

💡
The viewer never caches sheet content. A deployed change shows on the next page load, with no need to clear anything.
